Tecra Ltd has decided that the first implementation of graphene technology which it possesses (patented) will be in lightning. To make it visible, the company has produced a prototype of a graphene bulb. As it was decided with Grupa Azoty, the first use will be for medical purposes (in operation rooms).

Goal of the project — to design a new bulb

The goal of the project is the development of Tecra company based on high-class design. It will consist of an energy-saving, high-quality graphene bulb with an innovative design and a wide commercial use. The new product will be characterized by a high commercial potential and will constitute a solution with several competitive advantages in relation to the solutions currently available on the market.

The product will satisfy the actual demand of consumers, as part of the program of creating an innovative Polish economy.

Impact on society

Tecra plans to challenge a serious problem related to excessive exposure to light from light bulbs based on LED photo-luminescent diodes. French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety recommends limiting the use of this type of lighting because the blue component of this type of light leads to ‘macular degeneration’, which may cause in many cases the blindness. This disease occurs in 8.8% of the population, more often it happens in women, and it causes to increases with age frequently. After the age of 75, it affects almost 28% of people. People over 50 are particularly vulnerable. Due to the aging of the society, the problem is growing. The technology offered by Tecra will allow the implementation of a new innovative source of light, which uses previously unseen mechanisms of light emission, in which the contribution of radiation harmful to eyesight will be eliminated.
